Local singer, Alfred Sim, has just released his new mandarin original single 《一直都在》‘Here, Always’ on 24 July 2017. This single is Alfred’s very first originally co-written song with local renowned lyricist, Zhang Lesheng, with melody composed together with local veteran composer/producer, Jim Lim. ‘Here, Always’ is the first single from Alfred’s upcoming album.

Having previously sang the well-received theme song, ‘最美的时光’, written by Zhang Lesheng and composed by Jim Lim for Mediacorp’s drama <If Only I Could>, the dream team reassembled to create more melodious magic for Alfred’s new single. The end product of these three creatives has once again proven itself to be of substance, with ‘Here, Always’ having garnered notable attention to have been chosen to be one of the theme songs of the new upcoming Mediacorp drama, <When Duty Calls> even prior to its release.

“This song is about my love and passion for singing, regardless of the ups and downs, failures and rejections that I've been through,” explains Alfred. “Finding the right melody and lyrics to aptly express these emotions was definitely a challenge, but the entire process was made easier with the help of Jim Lim and Lesheng.” The heartfelt rock ballad that gradually builds towards an explosive climax towards the end truly allows one to connect on the same emotional level as the singer himself.

Local homegrown singer-songwriter, Mandy Ke, has released her second mandarin original single 《病了》‘Unwell’ on 17 July 2017. This single is produced by the same team that has produced the hit songs from Gentle Bones’ debut EP such as ‘Save Me’ and ‘Until We Die’

After her first single ‘So Wrong’ rose to #2 on the Malaysia Mandopop iTunes chart within its first day of release, Mandy is back to rock the charts with her second single, ‘Unwell’. Similar  to that of her first single, ‘Unwell’ continues to boast of Mandy’s wide vocal range with hard-hitting power-packed moments. However, with this single she moves away from electronic influences as heard in her first single, and explores a more ballad-like style. Coupled with Mandy’s sweet vocals, she proves her versatility in which listeners can always expect the unexpected from her.

Writing with a bigger purpose that is highly relatable in today’s context, her second single highlights the notion of how everyone has self-love but yet proceed to judge others for their differences and their own self-love – referencing this notion as a condition in which everyone  is “sick” with. Self- composed and written by her, Mandy aims to convey the underlying importance of acceptance of others and that the only remedy for this is to have love for all.
